99.9% of early bulb failures in aftermarket applications are not the fault of the bulb itself.
Failure can be due to several factors, including:
Voltage surges in the vehicle that are larger than the filament is designed to handle (over-voltage).
If the bulb receives an impact or jolt while hot, it can cause direct damage to the bulb.
Bulbs do experience end of life failure – heating and cooling cycles cause the coils of the filament to become pitted and eventually break in two.
Dropping the bulb can cause the filament to break or result in early bulb failure.
Dropping can crack the bulb and cause the gas fill mixture to leak out. This is evident by a white color in the glass (fast leak) or black color in the glass (slow leak).
