With the AAPEX show right around the corner, the excitement builds for vendors, buyers, and those planning to attend as fans. Thousands of products that will be on display, and there are always the “bonus” things that go on at AAPEX, including many companies promoting giveaways and challenges to leave Vegas with cash. One of those is the Gates Corporation, who has planned the perfect timing and venue to wrap up a large-scale promotion called the “Deal of the Century.”
Three lucky shop owners have been named finalists in a contest that could net the winner $100,000. Gates ran a promotion over the summer that was designed to encourage automotive professionals to make the right system repair recommendations to their customers. Those who participated earned an entry into the contest by installing belts, tensioners, and accessory component kits made by Gates.
The three finalists are: 1. 59-year old John Welker, who owns Texoma Fleet and Auto Repair in Texas 2. 32-year old Marc Mondich from K.M. Auto Care in Georgia 3. Charles Forehand, a 58-year old who owns a garage in Oklahoma. At 4:00 in the afternoon on November 4, these three finalists will be on stage at the Gates booth at AAPEX playing a game of poker, with a twist, for a shot at $100K.
“Since we are in Las Vegas, we thought this would be a memorable way to conclude our promotion, “ said Todd Hack, Gates VP of Automotive Aftermarket. “Though this is a fun event, the underlying message is an important safety reminder to the auto care industry about systematic inspection and repair. We encourage technicians to inspect and replace all worn components in a system, not just a belt. Since all components in a system wear at about the same rate, this program urges techs and shop owners to think about the system as a whole and replace all worn components at the same time.”
An important message with one finalist who may walk away with more awareness, as well as a whole lot of money.
