Gainesville Raceway Nationals

March 24, 2022

Our good friend and drag racer Blake Alexander drove his Head racing team’s nitro funny car to the finals this weekend in Gainesville, FL. Matt Hagan won the last race, but it sure was great to see Blake and his young team on this Sunday and even better to watch them work their way to the top of the ladder. While Blake’s team may be “young”, team owner Jim Head has been making drag racing history for decades. There’s no substitute for that kind of experience.

Couple that experience with the team’s skills and motivation that I’ve witnessed first-hand, and you’ve got a winning combination. And winning is just the icing on the cake for these folks. They obviously love what they do. So do the fans. Gainesville Raceway was packed this weekend. We met a group from Canada that follows the NHRA to at least 3 other tracks and events each year, big Blake fans.
While enjoying the racing on this sunny with chilly breezes Sunday, we also got to watch Clay Millican and Team Stringer Performance qualify after winning against Brittany Force. Unfortunately, Clay lost to Doug Foley in the next round. Better luck in Vegas Clay!

Here at AVI, we cherish our relationships with the sponsors we work for, especially when we go to cheer for their racing teams in person.  The Group Training Academy encompasses both Pronto and Parts Plus, so we have Blake in his Head Racing, top fuel funny car and Clay in his Stringer Performance top fuel dragster. A great way to spend an afternoon.
