Embed Videos
December 10, 2010
The amount of video content available to you on the web has exploded in recent years. Embedding a video into a web page is becoming standard on many sites across the web. Many think it’s difficult, but embedding a video is as simple as copying and pasting. We’ll walk you through how to embed our videos on your website, but the concepts can be applied to multiple websites like YouTube and Vimeo.
When you use video on your website, you have a powerful tool that can increase the popularity of your web pages. Whether you want to promote our training programs, share Tip Clips from our NewsBlog or increase page views, you can use video to create a dynamic web site the attracts and keeps visitors. Embedding videos has other perks, too. We often see people link to a video. An embedded video keeps visitors on your website longer instead of sending them to another website. When you embed a video from sites like Diagnostic News or YouTube, they allow you to display their content, but it’s hosted on their server and uses their bandwidth! Can’t beat that! So, let’s get started.

When you open the page, you’ll see a video box in which you’ll be able to watch the video directly on the page. See Photo 1. From here, you can watch the video in full screen, adjust the volume, and often even share the video on Facebook and Twitter. Our video players put an Embed button in the lower right hand corner. When you click on it, a box pops up with the “embed code” and a Copy button. See Photo 2.

By clicking Copy, the code is copied to the clipboard and you can then paste is onto your site. Where you paste this will vary from site to site, but if you have a site that allows you to login as an admin to edit pages simply prepare to edit the page you wish to have the video on. See Photo 3.

Next, open the source code view (usually a HTML button somewhere) of the web page you want to edit and paste the code directly onto the page. (You can do this by right clicking + Paste, or hitting Control + V on the keyboard at the same time.) You will then see the embed code on your page. Save your work, upload it to your web server, and view it in your browser. See Photo 4.

So, as you can see, adding a video your to site is extremely simple and beneficial!
