Tech Tip: Fuel Pump Modules and Autopsy

Duty cycle fuel pumps are becoming increasingly popular with most manufacturers. Knowing the proper procedures of how and when to test these systems will greatly improve your diagnostic skills. This video covers how to read the duty cycle with your meter and with a lab scope. This includes knowing not only how to read the it but also how to decipher your test’s results. This could include conducting an autopsy of the old fuel pump to verify the results of the readings. Dave will also discuss what to look for in connection failures and the conditions on your scope or meter that will offer you clues as to whether it is a pump failure or merely the connection.
