Tech Tip: Fuel Pump Current Draw

Your instructor, Dave Hobbs, takes you through advanced testing procedures to determine the current draw of the modern fuel pump, including how to read the current draw, how to determine the exact resistance in the fuel pump you’re testing by way of its unique current signature, using a scope and by using Ohm’s law to calculate the exact electrical values of a given pump. These procedures will also cover the use of an inductive amp clamp and how to read the duty cycle on your meter, as well as the scope patterns and how to interpret them.
