February 19, 2015

In this Tech Tip, Dave Hobbs reviews TSB# 08-08-46-004A relating to telematic systems. This TSB addresses aftermarket telematic systems generally used in the insurance industry to monitor driving habits such as acceleration and braking. It explains that these systems can malfunction and cause interference with serial BUS communications by either shorting the BUS or creating data corruption. This communication malfunction can cause phantom electrical problems with things like voice-recognition features, volume control, and/or GPS.
