“New Cut Away Hybrid In Development” – The Group Training Academy EV Tour Blog

March 16, 2021 – Morgantown, WV

The centerpiece of TGTA's EV training tour is obvious… well, outside of "the Talent," that is. I'm talking about TGTA's Prius hybrid cutaway trainer. Something you might not know is that we've been developing plans to offer this specialized vehicle and accompanying automotive curricula to interested parties around the nation.

The Group and AVI are pleased to announce that we have partnered with and have been contracted by Mt. San Jacinto Community College in San Jacinto, California, to build a custom Prius cutaway trainer for their automotive training program.

We all understand our need to understand that electric and hybrid electric vehicles are here to stay, and the number of them being offered by manufacturers and purchased by consumers is rising. With environmental concerns and government-mandated OEM fleet fuel mileage standards, automobile manufacturers are moving toward making hybrid and electric vehicles a larger significant part of their offerings. This growth offers unique opportunities to today's, and especially tomorrow's automotive technicians, and community colleges like Mt. San Jacinto see this market trend as a chance to allow their students to acquire training that moves resumes to the top of the pile.

Coupling the Prius trainer with TGTA and AVI's electric vehicle curricula can bring this education directly to educators and their students, totally turnkey.

We understand that not every school has the financial capabilities of purchasing a vehicle like this one. Still, there are other ways TGTA and AVI can assist in EV and other educational institution training endeavors. Give us a ring if you would like to chat.

BTW, John will be the driving force for building Mt. San Jacinto's car, and we'll give you updates and lots of photos as the build progresses. I predict lots of Sawzall effort and a good deal of cursing.

Stay tuned to this blog, as we hope to bring you updates on this tour as it goes, both the good and not-so-good, all the way through to its' conclusion on March 27 in Fort Myers, Florida, TGTA's world headquarters.

If you are interested in finding out how to bring TGTA live training to your area, contact us at Phone: 1-800-718-7246 | Email: support@aviondemand.com. We will be adding tour stops for the EV classes and additional content on such topics as advanced diesel diagnostics, ADAS, and light, medium, and heavy-duty braking systems.
