[accordion auto_height=”false” ui_theme=”ui-smoothness”][accordion_panel title=”Hybrid Safety for First Responders”]High voltage is not something to take lightly; understanding how to properly work with the high voltage is a MUST as a first responder. Hybrid vehicles are not going away, more and more will be on the road in the future, and that means more and more chances for accidents to happen.
AVI wants you to learn about hybrid vehicle safety and how to deal with one at the scene of an accident from the best there is in the business, Instructor Craig Van Batenburg. Craig, nationally known for his expertise in the field of hybrids, will show you what to look for, how to tell which system is which, what models to look for and how to avoid the hazards of dealing with a hybrid car in an accident situation.
This course covers specialized testing using the data stream and graphs from six input sensors: RPM, CTS, ITS, MAP, MAF and TPS. Jim shows you how to use the tool to figure total fuel trim and test hard start and no-start issues. He also covers misfire testing, the “Special Tests” function and time saving setups.
He shows you how to find and use the which wire hookups and provides hands-on navigation, quick set-up techniques for testing sensors and ignition. Jim covers sensor plug configuration, using the amp probe with your Genisys scope and testing schematics with known good results and live data.
Jim Wilson guides you through the fundamentals of the OTC TPR tool and a review of the Tire Pressure Monitoring System, as well as detailed techniques on how to properly service TPMS.
Since most TPMS utilize a valve stem sensor and many include run-flat tires, special attention is given to the step-by-step procedures for handling these assemblies.
He explains why you should NEVER use chrome or metal custom valve caps, what happens if you do and provides tips on valve core extraction. Dave covers tire pressures and gives tips on how to figure cold and hot inflation pressures. He explains the discrepancies between tire gauges and dash display and how to avoid comebacks.
In this program, Dave Scaler will not only teach you how to fix OBD II DTC’s, he’ll teach you methods to fix them fast!
