Tech Tip: Functional Testing for CAN Data

May 26, 2015

CAN compliant vehicles have come a long way from the late 80s. Your instructor, Bill Fulton, will lead you through the different steps you’ll need to know to do such things as Crank relearn, EVAP testing, and how to use your scanner to test the O2 sensor heater circuits. You will also learn the electronic throttle relearn procedures, as well as all the other functional testing on the CAN compliant systems on today’s Chryslers. Bill will also go over the various values you’ll see on your scanner screens and how to interpret those values. All of these tests will enable you to take the basic stored trouble codes and decipher exactly what the root cause of a problem is by knowing how and when to perform the various functional tests.
