Learn specific Ev Technology on the Chevrolet Blazer with in-depth discussion on computer strategies and scan data interpretation, including battery testing, charging and maintenance.  Learn proper safety; and develop a diagnostic process specific to electric vehicles.

Course Description: Safety will be discussed along with proper usage of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and specialty tools required for EV service. This course will cover the types of EV drive systems in use as well as their operation and service needs. Description and operation sections will include E/V drivetrain components, inverter/converter systems, motor types and design differences, air conditioning system designs, cooling systems for the components. Diagnostic procedures and proper tool usage will be covered in depth as the electronic testing tools required for these vehicles are different from those commonly used in shops at this time.

Course Description:

This course is offered on GM, Blazer, and Bolt technologies. In this course, you will be given an in-depth view and participate in a discussion on proper safety procedures when handling high-voltage circuits. The required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), along with the proper applications and use of specialty tools required for EV service. Learn specifics on computer strategies and scan data interpretation, including battery testing, charging, and maintenance.  Learn proper safety, and develop a diagnostic process specific to electric vehicles

Course Objectives: 

  • Recognize the Personal Protection Equipment needed and understand the correct procedures and applications.
  • Learn about how the low voltage system interacts with the high voltage systems.
  • Learn about how high voltage systems operate. This will include a deep dive on inverters, battery technology, 3 phase motors and more.
  • Learn how to quickly and effectively diagnose no starts and other concerns with EVs.
  • Learn about charging infrastructure, on board chargers, charging cables, and more.
  • Learn about the differences in electrified air conditioning systems.
