Course Description: Explores emissions control systems in vehicles, including catalytic converters, exhaust gas recirculation (EGR), and oxygen sensors, with a focus on emission testing and diagnostics.
Course Objectives:
- Learn about the different emissions created during the combustion process and how they are mitigated through different emission technologies.
- Gain a deep understanding of the EGR system operation and what symptoms are present when various failures occur.
- Understand the importance of the PCV system and what happens when it fails.
- Learn how to quickly and efficiently diagnose failures within the emission control systems.
- Understand the role of the oxygen sensors and their relation to a properly functioning and long lived catalytic converter.
