If your 12-volt battery is dead, the frunk (where the battery is located) opens electrically, making access difficult. The high-voltage battery still has power, but the 12-volt battery initiates the system. To open the frunk, locate the plug in the front bumper, pull off the cover (also used for the tow hook), and expose the red (positive) and black (ground) wires. Use a 12-volt battery, such as from a cordless impact tool, to connect to these wires, ensuring correct polarity. This will open the frunk, allowing you to service or jump-start the main battery. Once done, replace the wires and cover.
