New Course: Performance Tuning Series: Take me to the PROM

July 17, 2014

Want to go fast? This is the first of a series of upcoming performance based classes presented by Ron Bilyeu with the tuner’s best interests in mind.  This video is called “Going to the Prom” and it starts off by providing a better understanding of the engine management system and interpreting scan data. Ron takes this information and applies it to performance tuning giving you a solid foundation in what to look for when calibrating a vehicle for better performance.

Ron’s Teaser Tech Tip: If we ask a technician “what’s the main reason the computer needs to know fuel levels?”  A good repair technician will understand fuel levels are monitored for the EVAP system.  But a tuner knows every time the fuel level changes by 25%, the computer will decide whether or not to go to a high or low octane spark timing table.

Covered in this Class:

  • Engine Management
  • Scan Data Interpretation
  • PROM Data Interpretation
  • Actions and Reactions of the PROM
