Easier way to repair Automotive Air Conditioner Lines

If a new AC line is unavailable (due to length, shipping, or lack of service part), a repair may be necessary. Aircept offers a coupler for splicing lines, an alternative to expensive custom crimping.

Tech Tip for using a compression fitting coupler:

  1. Cut the line, deburr the ends, and clean out metal shavings (use an oiled Q-tip).
  2. Slide the nuts onto the line ends.
  3. Slide the compression fitting onto one line.
  4. Crucial Two-Step Sealing Process:
    • Step 1 (Pre-form): Do NOT initially install the O-ring seal. Tighten the nuts to fully seat the compression fittings. This pre-forms the fittings without damaging the O-ring.
    • Step 2 (Seal): Back the nut off, lube the O-ring with 500 viscosity mineral oil, insert it, and then retighten the fitting. This prevents O-ring damage during the initial compression step, reducing the risk of a leak.
