Task Torquing Lug Nuts
When torquing lug nuts, acceptable methods include torque limiting adapters (torque sticks) or a torque wrench, always using a crisscross or star pattern. An impact gun with a limited air supply is not acceptable as it applies uneven and improper torque, potentially causing problems. Torque sticks allow for the use of an impact gun, as they flex at a specific torque. A torque wrench can be set to the manufacturer’s specified torque, found in service manuals. Proper torquing is crucial due to varying rim configurations and thinner rotors.
